The main reason why wire mesh is used in construction foundations is that concrete can resist less stress. Adding a roof to the concrete block adds tensile strength to the block as the steel is extremely strong against tension. It is unthinkable to build modern structures and foundations without wire mesh.
There are square or rectangular wire mesh types. They are extremely resistant to corrosion and oxidation and can be placed easily and simply into concrete. Wire mesh, which has a wide usage area, is used to add additional tension strength in almost all concrete except very simple structures or walkways.
